BTS is performing at another music festival today (KBS Gayo Daechukje). Ella and I wanted to watch it together so we decided to meet in Hongdae, spend the day visiting Tae cafes, and then stream the event in the evening.

Cafe Arriate:

Our first stop was a flower cafe. I visited here once before to get a hot chocolate when I was watching people busking nearby. The first floor has so many beautiful bouquets and the second floor is where people can sit to enjoy their drinks. We didn't stay here for long because we had other cafes we wanted to see.

Cafe 333:

This cafe gave a cute photo card like the ones people get when they use a photo booth. The cup sleeve freaked me out a bit though because the photo looked like it had undergone some major whitewashing and editing.

I don't remember the name of the next cafe that we went to, but I really liked it! Rather than playing BTS songs they went through a list of music that Taehyung had recommended. It felt much more personalized and fun this way plus the people that worked there were very kind. We sat at this cafe for several hours to work.

When we first arrived we got a cup sleeve, but there were no photo cards. An hour or so later a package was dropped off near the front door. The baristas hadn't noticed so Ella picked it up and brought it to them. It ends up that the package was the photo cards! One of the baristas gave both of us one after they had opened it so we were glad that we waited here. I spent some of the time trying to plan my own cafe event. I have really enjoyed going to the events here and I want to try creating my own when I am back in Canada. I have no idea if there will be enough people interested to make it worthwhile, but I want to try.

We stopped at a restaurant near the cafe to have a quick dinner and then we walked over to our last cafe of the night. This one was another flower cafe. The decorations on the tea tray were so cute and the cafe was very pretty so it was a nice place to stop for the evening. They also had tons of cakes so Ella and I had multiple desserts... We skipped the red carpet for the song festival because there are only so many times I want to watch people walk down a carpet and we have already seen lots. We have watched so many award shows and festivals in the last few months that I am getting a little tired of seeing the same songs performed. I don't know how the artists don't get bored of practicing and performing the same song over and over again! However, Jin was one of the special MCs for the night so we decided to watch all of it.

The festival performances were good, but it was very long! BTS was set to perform near the end and Ella and I were worried we would miss the last subway if we stayed in the cafe to wait for them. I left the cafe with enough time to get home and watch their performance there, rather than waiting and potentially having to walk 3 hours to get home. I got back to my room, set up my laptop, and still had extra time before they were on stage (the show ended well after midnight). Their performance consisted of a medley of their solo songs, which was different from what they normally perform. My favourite solo song from the Love Yourself series is probably Yoongi's Seesaw, I had the song on repeat for days after it was released! Not the live performance, but a cute clip of the song feat. the rest of BTS as supportive back-up dancers:

Hope everyone is doing well,

Emily
